IT37069: RETRY OF VM SNAPSHOT REMOVAL AFTER BACKUP COMPLETION LEADS TO VMS REQUIRING CONSOLIDATION

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When the backup of a VM has completed, IBM Spectrum Protect Plus
  will request the vCenter to cleanup the snapshot that was
  created for the backup. If the cleanup of a snapshot is not
  completed within 1 hour, IBM Spectrum Protect Plus will timeout
  and proceed with the rest of cleanup. This can lead to VMs
  requiring consolidation.

Problem conclusion

• A customizable timeout was added in the case that the VMware VM
  delete snapshot operation is very slow due to environmental
  issues:
