APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • data cartridge that does not have "CLN" label is checked in as
    cleaner by
    "checkin libvol library_name  search=bulk status=cleaner
    checklabel=barcode cleanings=xx" command.
    
    For example,

Problem conclusion

  • This problem was fixed.
    Affected platforms for reported release:  AIX, HP-UX, Linux,
    Solaris and Windows.
    Platforms fixed:  AIX, Linux, and Windows.
    
    ANR8902W  A failure occurred during an attempt to check in a
    tape cleaner cartridge to library xxx, slot element number yyy.
    The bar code of the cartridge could not be read or is invalid.
    Explanation
    The bar code reader for the specified library was unable to read
    the cleaner cartridge label, or the label is invalid.
    System Action
    System operation continues. If the tape library is being
    searched, the check-in process continues with the next volume.
    
    User Response
    To resolve the issue, take one or more of the following actions:
    - Examine the cartridge to ensure that the bar code label is
    valid. Cleaner cartridge labels should have a prefix of CLN.
       If the label is not valid, use a new label (supplied by the
    cartridge vendor) and attach it to the cartridge.
    - Ensure that the bar code reader is configured and operational.
    - Ensure that the label is compatible with the bar code reader.
    Not all vendor labels are readable by all bar code readers.
    If the previous actions do not resolve the issue of checking in
    the cleaner cartridge, check in the cleaner cartridge without
    a bar code label by issuing the CHECKIN LIBVOL command. For the
    CHECKLABEL parameter, you can specify YES or NO,
    but do not specify BARCODE. For details, see the online product
    information for the CHECKIN LIBVOL command.
