IT36835: SETTING AN ASSOCIATED OPTION TO ITS DEFAULT VALUE REMOVES THE ASSOCIATION

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Setting an association option in IBM Spectrum Protect Plus to
  its default value removes the association from the database.
  This results in the options for a VM or other hypervisor or
  application object not overriding inherited options or resolving
  conflicts between inherited options. For example, if two parents
  have conflicting options, a user should be able to set the
  option directly on the child to resolve the conflict. If the
  user sets the value of the child option to the default value,
  the child option is removed from the database, which results in
  a scenario where there is no direct option set for the child.
  This results in the conflicting parent options not being
  overridden by the child (even though from the user's
  perspective, they have set the value of the option directly on
  the child).
  
  This issue affects IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.7 and 10.1.8.

Problem conclusion

• The default option has been removed as a special case that
  clears the value of the option. Instead, if the user sets the
  option to the default value, it is treated like any other valid
  option value and the value is recorded in the database (i.e., no
  longer clears the option).
