APAR status

Error description

  • Starting with version 10.1.6, incremental backups of Microsoft
    Exchange or SQL Servers using IBM Spectrum Protect Plus will
    display the message in the job log :
    
    Detail  <timestamp>  CTGGA3714  [<HostAddress>] Volume
            (\\?\Volume{<VolumeId>}\, <X>:) runs as Base Backup,
            reason: no prior USN information
    
    and no message indicating an incremental backup is performed.
    It is correct that the log files will always be saved in full,
    but the database itself will be saved incrementally.
    The above message pertains only to the logs and therefore is
    correct but the job log does not report the database is saved
    incrementally.
    This is a messaging only issue, the incremental backup of the
    database itself does complete as expected.

Problem conclusion

  • Previously missing progress updates made the job appear as if it
    was hanging, which was not the case. It is fixed by adding job
    log messages to report base or incremental backups for database
    file sets. Also, more progress reporting was added during the
    copy file process so that the backup progress can be monitored.
