IT36515: TRUNCATE SOURCE LOGS AFTER HOURS/DAYS WILL NOT TRUNCATE SOURCE LOGS IF ARCHIVE LOG DESTINATION PREFIX IS USED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The Oracle agent will not truncate source logs after log backup
  if the archive log destination is set to use a prefix and the
  source log truncation is set to "Older than a specified number
  of days" or "Older than a specified number of hours". This
  problem affects 10.1.7 ifix 2. All older versions of SPP are
  also affected, but the problem will arise during SLA backup
  instead of log backup.
  
  Affected Versions: IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.x.
  

Local fix

• Change the archive log destination to not use a prefix or use
  the "Immediately after log backup" option for source log
  truncation.

Problem conclusion

• When the archive log destination includes a prefix and the
  "Older than a specified number of days" or "Older than a
  specified number of hours" option is set for source log
  truncation, it will work as expected.
