Error description

  • When attempting to define the Guest OS/Guest Password for a VM,
    the option is greyed out.
In order to enable this option you must first select the
"Truncate SQL logs" and "Catalog file metadata"
check boxes. As this setting is used for guest IP
reconfiguration, the UI should allow it to be set without having
to chose the "Truncate SQL logs" and "Catalog file metadata"
options. This needs to be corrected based on the following
    conditions:

     1. If neither "Truncate SQL logs" nor "Catalog
file metadata" check boxes are checked, then
"Guest OS Username", and "Guest OS Password",
fields are enabled and the "Save" button should be enabled.
     2. If either or both "Truncate SQL logs" or "Catalog file
    metadata"
check boxes are checked, then "Guest OS Username" and
"Guest OS Password" fields are enabled and the "Save" button
is disabled until proper credentials are entered.

Local fix

  • Check one of the "Truncate SQL logs" and "Catalog file
    metadata" options, set the username
    and password and save, then
uncheck the "Truncate SQL logs" and "Catalog file metadata"

    option and save again.

Problem conclusion

  • IBM Spectrum Protect Plus "Guest OS Username" and "Guest OS
Password" resource options have been fixed. They will be enabled
if neither "Truncate SQL logs" or "Catalog file metadata"
options are selected and required if either options is selected.
