Error description

  • When the 'archive' option is disabled in an SLA or when the SLA
is deleted, the recovery points associated with that SLA
gradually expire when their retention age is reached. Data
associated with the recovery points is deleted as and when they
expire. Finally, when all the recovery points have been deleted,
the remaining metadata is deleted as well.

However, when a restore occurs from the archive recovery points,
some metadata objects are created to keep track of active
clones. When all recovery points expire and the data is removed,
the associated clone metadata is not deleted.

The result is that a small number of metadata objects can remain
in the cloud bucket or repository server filespace even after
all other data has expired. The leftover objects amount to just
a few kilobytes in size. This does not cause any failures and
the issue may be hard to notice unless a user manually browses
the contents of the bucket or file space after having deleted
    all SLAs.

The leftover objects have names that match the following
    pattern:

    spp_archive_metadata/<volume_id>/clones-<random_uuid>/clone-<ran
    dom_uuid>

    For example:
    spp_archive_metadata/3ad05a27f79648e886a803df1b0c2c9b/clones-868
    eb076-9edf46eab887aca245d6ce34/clone-cc9da35b811248deafd0136cd15

when an archive volume is deleted after all recovery points have
    expired.
