APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When IBM Spectrum Protect Server administrator unlocks a node
    (UNLOCK NODE <NODENAME>), the Backup-Archive Client scheduler's
    next query on schedule stops with the messages (as seen in the
    dsmsched.log):
    
    "ANS2050E IBM Spectrum Protect needs to prompt
    for the password but cannot prompt because the process is
    running in the background.
    ANS1029E Communication with the IBM
    Spectrum Protect server is lost. Scheduler has been stopped."
    
    
    PASSWORDACCESS GENERATE is set in dsm.opt.
    
    The problem
    exists in polling and prompted schedmode.

Local fix

  • Stop and restart the scheduler service/process or client
    acceptor service/daemon on the client machine.

Problem conclusion

  • Now when IBM Spectrum Protect Server administrator unlocks a
    node (UNLOCK NODE <NODENAME>), the backup-archive  Client
    scheduler's next query on schedule does not stop its work with
    message: "ANS2050E IBM Spectrum Protect needs to prompt
    for the password but cannot prompt because the process is
    running in the background".
