APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When using IBM Spectrum Protect client version 8.1.11, clients
    fail to connect to the server when using COMMMETHOD V6TCPIP if
    the IPv6 address is longer than 30 characters.
    
    The following error happens at client side (as seen in the
    dsmerror,log):
    
    
     ANS0361I DIAG: ..\..\common\cu\cucommon.cpp(2216):
      cuSignOnEResp(): Error -50 receiving SignOnEResp
     ANS1017E Session rejected: TCP/IP connection failure.
    
    The server shows the following protocol errors in his actlog:
    
     ANR0443W Protocol error on session xx for node yy (WinNT) -
      invalid "MacAddress" field found in "SignOnEnhanced2" verb
      (offset 75).
    
     ANR0421W Session xx for node yy (WinNT) refused - sign-on
      protocol violation.
    
    Customer/Support Diagnostics:
     On Windows platforms, the command "ipconfig /All" will show
        the "IPv6 Address" .
     On Unix, it is command "ifconfig -a" , which lists
        the "inet6" address.
    
    IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected:
      Client V8.1.11 on all supported platforms

Local fix

  • Rollback to client level 8.1.10 until a solution for COMMMETHOD
     V6TCPIP is available.
      - or -
    
    Switch to COMMMETHOD TCPIP if possible.

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been fixed so the client provides the MAC address
    corresponding to the used IP address.
