APAR status

  • Closed as documentation error.

Error description

  • Customer updated the connection credentials to use a new
User ID that contains spaces. Looking in the logs we can see
the connection is failing due to the User ID being truncated and
unrecognized. Example, User = "Storage Insights" shows up in
the Performance Monitor logs as, "Storage".

Some storage devices allow a space in the user name, but
not all. It would be best if the UI dialog box for Add Device
blocks all User IDs with spaces, or the code differentiates
between which devices allow and which do not, and save or
    block accordingly.
The restriction of spaces must be documented to convey the
constraint of blank spaces in the connection credentials for
    Add Device wizard.

The defect is against component: Add Device Wizard
    Server/Manager
    build/release (TPC): 5.4.1
    ________________________________________
    Problem as described by customer:
Credentials were updated with a new ID and Performance monitors
that ran successfully previously now show:
HWNPM2132W Performance data could not be collected for
device XXXXX - Performance data could not be collected for
device XXXXX (000000xxxxxxxxxx). The current samples are
skipped. (HWNPM4300E Access to the agent or device has been
denied. Ensure that valid credentials have been specified for
    agent xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.)

Local fix

  • Local Fix: Remove space in the User name and update the
    connection credentials.
