Error description

  • In an error condition that warrants an IBM Spectrum Protect for
Space Management failover in a Spectrum Scale cluster, the
mmaddcallback variable %eventNode[.qualifier] is populated by
Spectrum Scale with a list of 1 or more failed Spectrum Scale
    cluster nodes.

'dsmmigfs' is unable to correctly process this list if it
includes more than 1 node. This might lead to unsuccessful
failover with the typical message in dsmerror.log:

ANS9450W dsmmigfs : No eligible filesystem for takeover.

Product versions affected: Spectrum Protect for Space Management
                               clients versions 7.1.x and 8.1.x
                               running on AIX GPFS
                               and Linux GPFS platforms
               Initial impact: Medium
          Additional keywords: 08161,660,706
                               HSM GPFS TSM LTFS

Problem conclusion

  • After the fix, the HSM failover function works as expected
regardless whether two or more HSM nodes in a cluster are going
    down in parallel.
