APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A Spectrum Scale mmbackup fails with the ANS4005E / ANS1228E
    messages and the Backup/Archive Client does not backup the
    directories which are part of a fileset junction path, if the
    following conditions are met:
    
     - A mmbackup of a fileset-level snapshot is done.
     - The Junction path of fileset includes two
       or more directories (e.g. '<mount point>/xxxx/yyyy').
     - There is no backup of directories which are included into a
       junction path on IBM Spectrum Protect server (i.e. this is
       the first backup).
    
    Customer/Support Diagnostics:
     The detailed messages are:
      ANS1228E Sending of object '/mount/xxxx/yyyy' failed.
      ANS4005E Error processing '/mount/xxxx/yyyy': file not
        found
    
    Spectrum Protect Versions Affected: V7.1 and V8.1 on all
                       supported Unix platforms
    
    Initial Impact: Medium

Local fix

  •  Run a backup of the junction path of the fileset separately:
    
           dsmc incr /mount/xxxx/yyyy -subdir=no

Problem conclusion

  • Upon the fix, dsmc will correctly back up all directories which
    form the fileset junction path during a Spectrum Scale fileset
    based mmbackup operation.
