APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Core dump files might be found on the data collector even
    though it continues to function without a problem. The core
    dumps are caused by remote log collection attempts by support
    when prior core dump files already existed. When this occurs,
    the remote log collection fails and no logs for the data
    collector are uploaded.
    
    Javacore, core, heapdump, and snap
    files can be found under the data collector log directory when
    they have occurred.
    
    When the core dumps occur because of the
    log collection attempt, you might also find remnants of the log
    collection attempt under the following
    directories.
    <data_collector_dir>/service
    - confdir.zip
    -
    devops.zip
    - logdir.zip
    - osversion.txt
    -
    version.txt
    
    <data_collector_dir>
    -
    CollectorLogFile.log.#
    
    Removing the core dump files from the
    data collector directory allows the remote log collection to
    work without core dumping again. Core dump files can be sent to
    support for analysis.

Local fix

  • Remove the core dump files from the data collector directory.
