Error description
The XML representation of a catalog could be malformed, but was being stored anyway as being valid. This caused a '404 Not Found' response for every API request in the catalog until the offending character was removed, and the catalog republished. Code was added for specific properties to ensure invalid characters are escaped in such a way as to not produce invalid XML catalog metadata. As an additional safeguard, a check was added to ensure that the final XML representation of a catalog is well formed XML before replacing the prior version.
