APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The error-report on the MQ Appliance includes many placeholder
files (0 byte) from the /sys file system.
Sometimes, there is a very large number of these entries which
causes the error-report to be truncated.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When generating an MQ Appliance error report, for diagnostic
purposes, the appliance includes file listings from relevant
filesystems. Under load, it is expected for many zero-byte files
to exist under the /sys filesystem, however these are unlikely
to be relevant for diagnostic purposes. Due to the number of
these files, their presence could cause other more useful
information to be truncated from the error report.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ appliance error report logic has been modified to exclude
the /sys file system entries from the error report.
