APAR status

Error description

  • IBM Spectrum Protect Client remote client agent (dsmagent) may
    crash during MS Exchange or MS SQL backups, or any volume-level
    snapshots
    performed with IBM Spectrum Protect for Mail, or IBM Spectrum
    Protect for Databases, or IBM Spectrum Protect Snapshot.
    
    For example, the following messages is reported in Data
    Protection for MS Exchange logs:
    
    Error: RC: 418 ANS1017E (RC-50) Session rejected: TCP/IP
    connection failure.
    ACN5060E A IBM Spectrum Protect API error has occurred.
    Examine the Windows Event Logs and DSMERROR.LOG for additional
    details.
    
    The following message is reported in dsmerror.log and/or
    dsierror.log
    
    ANS1017E Session rejected: TCP/IP connection failure.:

Problem conclusion

  • The code changes fixes the possible crash in the IBM Spectrum
    Protect Client remote client agent (dsmagent) that might occur
    during MS Exchange or MS SQL backups, or any volume-level
    snapshots performed with IBM Spectrum Protect for Mail, or IBM
    Spectrum Protect for Databases, or IBM Spectrum Protect
    Snapshot.
