Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of the IBM MQ Explorer.

    Platforms affected:
    Windows, Linux on x86-64

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
An MQ Explorer action that failed to complete successfully, such
as stopping an already stopped channel, reported error:

"AMQ4172 There was an error when trying to set or retrieve
    information".

MQ Explorer should have reported the correct reason why the
    request failed, for example:

"AMQ4184 The channel is not currently active".

This problem was caused by a logic error that was added to
handle specific types of authority failures from CHLAUTH
    commands under APAR IT24402.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ Explorer logic that was added as part of IT24402 has been
corrected to only take that branch of code when handling CHLAUTH
    commands.

In addition, the logic added in APAR IT24402 has also been
changed to ensure an AMQ4036 message is reported when deleting
    blocking or mapping rules.
