IT29991: IBM SPECTRUM PROTECT PLUS SERVER CAN CRASH IF FILE INDEXING DB BECOMES FULL

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• File indexing creates entries in an internal database
  which is used for file level restores. If this database
  becomes full it can cause the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus
  server to crash and not be able to be restarted.
  The Virgo log will show:
  Recording application context construction failure
  'org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error
  creating bean with name 'luceneTemplateImpl': Invocation of init
  method failed; nested exception is
  com.syncsort.dp.xsb.commons.XSBException: Too many documents,
  composite IndexReaders cannot exceed 2147483647' for bundle
  'com.syncsort.dp.xsb.lucene_3.2.0 [298]'

Local fix

• The file indexing database can be cleared out resulting in all
  previous file level restores being lost.
  This does not remove the ability to restore a virtual machine.
  
  1 - Run: "sudo rm /data3/lucene/lucidx/*"
  
  2 - Start Virgo:
  sudo systemctl start virgo

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been fixed so the file server's file indexing
  database upper limit is not reached.
