APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
Problem description: It is possible that the estimated capacity of a sequential access storage pool (tape) will be reported incorrectly value This skewing can occur if there is a library type where IBM Spectrum Protect do not get a scratch volume count in the library (such an an external library manager). This is seen when estimated capacity is equal to the estimated capacity of the used volume and this lead to situation that estimated capacity of a sequential access storage pool is smaller then expected. ie: query stgpool STGPOOL1 f=d Storage Pool Name: STGPOOL1 Storage Pool Type: Primary Device Class Name: DEV1 Storage Type: DEVCLASS Estimated Capacity: 14,761 G Space Trigger Util: Pct Util: 6.3 Pct Migr: 0.1 Maximum Scratch Volumes Allowed: 1,000 Number of Scratch Volumes Used: 1 query vol stg=STGPOOL1 Volume Name Storage Device Estimated Pct Volume Pool Name Class Name Capacity Util Status ------------- ----------- ---------- --------- ----- -------- K01234 STGPOOL1 DEV1 14.4 T 6.3 Filling Customer/L2 Diagnostics: The server trace with traceflags: MONITOR MMSLIB SSPOOL will show: 17:12:46.766 [1313879][asutil.c][1807][AsGetPoolStatus]:libName=OTLN, availScratch=2147483647, isLibClient=0, rc=0. Definition of the availScratch is maximum 31 bit integer. Adding the number of used scratch volumes we get a negative number causing to only consider the used scratch volumes because through this calculation it appears that there are no scratch volumes available.
