Error description

  • Abnormal termination of amqrmppa channel process can happen due
to a memory overwrite, when channel compression is enabled and
    SHARECNV(1).

A memory buffer overwrite can occur when receiving compressed
messages greater than 32K bytes in size which causes subsequent
abnormal termination of the MQ channel agent process amqrmppa.
This can result in various failure data capture (FDC) records
    including:
    amqzxma0 ZX005022 zxcProcessChildren
    lrcW_S_FAST_PATH_APP_DEAD	OK
    runmqlsr RN201010
    rppDeadProcessHandler	zrcX_NON_CRITICAL_PROCESS_MISSING OK
    amqzlaa0 XC307030 xlsRequestMutex
    xecL_W_SEM_OWNER_DIED OK

Local fix

  • Disable channel compression.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of MQ 9.1 with channel compression and messages greater
than 32K bytes in size and SHARECNV value set to 1.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A logic error meant that an incorrectly sized buffer could be
used by the channel when handling compressed messages. In some
cases this resulted in a memory overwrite, which terminated the
    channel process.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ channel code has been changed to ensure that an
appropriate size buffer is allocated and used when handling
    large compressed messages.
