IT26612: A REFERENCE TO A STALE JDBC CONNECTION IN THE CONNECTION POOL ISNOT BEING RESET

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• A long running JDBC Connection in the JDBC Connection Pool has
  been dereferenced, but the JDBC transaction handler has not
  cleaned it out correctly.
  
  The JDBC transaction handler is returning a null
  java.sql.Connection
  
  object to the getJDBCType4Connection() API call in a Java
  Compute node.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

  USERS AFFECTED:
  All users of App Connect Enterprise version 11 and IBM
  Integration Bus version 10 using JDBC Type 4 Connections
  
  
  Platforms affected:
  MultiPlatform

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  For long running connections, where a JDBC connection has been
  invalidated due to idle processing it is possible for the Java
  API call <span style="background-color:rgb(255, 255,
  255)">getJDBCType4Connection() </span> to return a null
  connection. This may result in a NullPointerException in user
  Java Code.
  

Problem conclusion

• The <span style="background-color:rgb(255, 255,
  255)">getJDBCType4Connection() </span>function no longer returns
  a null connection under these circumstances.
