Error description

  • The following output is seen for queue managers from the status
command on the mq appliance command line, even though the queue
    managers are running normally:

    QM(QMGRName) Status(Running)
    CPU: 0.00%
    Memory: 185MB
    HA role: UNKNOWN
    HA status: UNKNOWN
    HA control: UNKNOWN
    HA preferred location: UNKNOWN
    DR role: Primary

Alternatively, failure data capture (FDC) records may be
observed when checking HA/DR status, reporting Probe ID BD045020
    from the function brcStatusQMgrHA.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of the IBM MQ Appliance who have
    defined multiple HA/DR queue managers.

This has been seen when 6 or more HA/DR queue managers are
present on the appliance, although may in theory apply to a
    smaller number
of queue managers if several environment variables are
    configured with long values.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
If several HA/DR queue managers were configured on an MQ
Appliance, an environment variable used during the invocation of
internal HA/DR status commands could become set to a larger
value than was permitted by the lower level firmware.

Exceeding this limit caused multiple failures in the HA/DR
    status commands.

Problem conclusion

  • The affected HA/DR commands have been modified to avoid the need
    to set large environment variables.
