Error description
Tivoli Storage Manager server is upgraded with the following steps. 1. Install IBM Installation Manager 1.8.2.1. 2. Install Tivoli Storage Manager Server 7.1.3. 3. Upgrade IBM Installation Manager from 1.8.2.1 to 1.8.5. 4. Upgrade Tivoli Storage Manager Server from 7.1.3 to 7.1.7. Installation is completed, but the following message appears when IBM Installation Manager is started after completing above step4. ---------------------------------------------------------------- -- A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK) must be available in order to run IBIMIM. No Java virtual machine was found after searching the following locations. C:\Program Files\IBM\Installation Manager\eclipse\ jre_7.0.8010.20150330_1903\jre\bin\j9vm\jvm.dll ---------------------------------------------------------------- -- Tivoli Storage Manager server Versions affected: Tivoli Storage Manager Server 7.x or higher upgrade with IIM is upgraded on Windows platform Initial Impact: Low Additional Keywords: IIM
Local fix
manually edit IBMIM.ini file under "C:\Program Files\IBM\Installation Manager\eclipse" with the correct IIM jre path. For example, in case of IBM Installation Manager 1.8.5, correct the line as follows. ------------------------------------------ -vm C:\Program Files\IBM\Installation Manager\eclipse\jre_7.0.9040.20160504_1613\jre\bin\j9vm\jvm.dll ------------------------------------------
