Error description
An application displays a memory leak when running on MQ V8.0.0.4. The process private memory usage of the application keeps increasing. Separately a client XA application calling MQOPEN might receive a failure, if the following steps are done. The reason code from MQOPEN is 2195 (MQRC_UNEXPECTED_ERROR). xa_open rc=0 MQCONN rc=0 MQOPEN rc=0 MQCLOSE rc=0 MQDISC rc=0 MQCONN rc=0 MQOPEN rc=2195
Local fix
Modify the application code to connect to the IBM MQ queue manager once during the lifetime of the process unless otherwise necessary.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: Users of IBM MQ 8.0.0.4. The leak will be most visible in environments that host applications which frequently connect and disconnect from the queue manager. The failure from MQOPEN only affects client XA applications if they disconnect then connect again to the queue manager. Platforms affected: MultiPlatform **************************************************************** PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A coding error meant that when an application disconnected from the queue manager, the MQ client libraries failed to free all of the memory allocated for the connection.
Problem conclusion
The IBM MQ client code has been corrected so that the allocated memory is freed when an application disconnects. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Version Maintenance Level v8.0 8.0.0.5 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
