Error description
Restoring a Hyper-V virtual machine to a different host can terminate if the host does not support the number of cpu's or the amount of assigned memory that was assigned to the VM. While the restore fails, the Hyper-V virtual machines disks are successfully restored. The error log will contain: ANS4311E Full VM restore of 'Hyper-V' Virtual Machine 'IBMVM' failed with RC=7131 target node name='IBM', data mover node name='IBM-DM' A service trace will show: vmHyperVChangeTemplateToVM(): ValidateVirtualMachine(): rc=-1 ErrorMessage='Memory virtual quantity above maximum.' vmHyperVChangeTemplateToVM(): ValidateVirtualMachine(): rc=-1 ErrorMessage='Cannot assign the specified number of processors for virtual machine 'IBM' is out of range. The range is 1 through 4. (Virtual machine ID 9C8EDE75-2700-415B-9D2C-9FC188C46609)' Initial impact: Medium Versions affected: 7.1 Platforms: Windows
Local fix
Create a new virtual machine in the Hyper-V manager and attach the restored disk(s) to the new VM.

Problem conclusion
Data mover has been modified to reset the CPU and memory configuration of guests that are not compatible with the target host for restore.
Temporary fix
A fix for this problem is currently targeted for Tivoli Storage Manager Client on Windows for interim fix package 7.1.3.2 Note 1: The Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Client is a part of the Data Protection for Microsoft Hyper-V. In Data Protection for Microsoft Hyper-V environments, the TSM Client is also known as the data mover. Note 2: This is subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
