Error description
Attempting to convert an apparently valid JSON payload to XML using JSONiq fails with a fatal error as below: "Fatal Error at /UserScript.xq:1: [XPST0003] An expression is not a valid instance of the grammar defined for XQuery. \n Cause: \"option\"" This is because the XQuery/JSONiq processor is not able to process a document with a BOM (Byte Order Mark).
Local fix
If the input message is coded as UTF-8, then a workaround until the fix is available, is to remove the BOM (when there is one) before sending to DataPower. If the input is non-UTF-8, then that workaround probably won't work.
Problem summary
Affected is the use of XQuery/JSONiq processor. If the input document is prefixed with a Byte Order Mark (BOM), DataPower incorrectly logs an error.
Problem conclusion
Fix is available in 6.0.0.15, 6.0.1.11, 7.0.0.8 and 7.1.0.5. For a list of the latest fix packs available, please see: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21237631
