Error description
The problem is about configing DM Application and a recent internal defect. Please refer to a technote below first: ---------------------------------technote----------------------- ------------------ http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=1067&uid=swg21238228 Problem On Windowsᄅ XP machines, JPEG files are associated with the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. When I view a file from the DB2ᄅ Document Manager Desktop, the JPEG file either opens in Microsoftᄅ Paint, or returns an error message. Cause Windows Picture and Fax Viewer is not an application, but instead a DLL, shimgvw.dll inside of another application, rundll32.exe. DB2 Document Manager needs additional parameters to pass to the application in order to launch the file correctly. Solution 1. From Designer > Global > Desktop > Desktop Templates, right-click on a Desktop Template and select Modify (non-wizard). 2. On the Desktop Applications page, type the following values: FileType: JPG Application Type: Viewing Clear Launch associated application Application: rundll32.exe shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen Arguments: %filename% 3. Click Add, then OK to apply the changes and exit the window. 4. Run Cache. ---------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------ The point I want to point out is the application setting: rundll32.exe shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen In this setting, the param ImageView_Fullscreen is case sensitive, and if we run commands in command line 1. rundll32.exe shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen 2. rundll32.exe shimgvw.dll,IMAGEVIEW_FULLSCREEN Obiviously, we will get an error with command 2 with error: Error in SHIMGVW.DLL Missing entry: IMAGEVIEW_FULLSCREEN ---------------------------------------------------------------- -- From FP6, all application setting has been changed to uppercase, including params, and this change results those applications with case-sensitive params will encounter errors, like the sample mentioned above. This change was made through an internal defect with number 116627.
Local fix
Problem summary
When you assigned applications to a Desktop template (on the Desktop Applications tab of the New or Modify Desktop Template Configuration window), the case of any arguments that you provided in the Application and Arguments fields was not preserved. (Preserving case is important for applications that take case-sensitive arguments.)
Problem conclusion
The fix is available in DB2 Document Manager v8.3 Fix Pack 7 and v8.4.
