IJ48220: CFGECH AUTOMATICALLY CHANGES MTU FROM 1500 TO 9000 AFTER REBOOT APPLIES TO AIX 7300-02

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If an etherchannel was configured with
    use_jumbo_frames=yes
    and the interface mtu later changed to 1500, then after
    every reboot the mtu is set back to 9000 in the CuAt

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Configured 1500 mtu is reset to 9000, on rmdev/mkdev , if
    use_jumbo_frames=set.

Problem conclusion

  • Introduced a new tunable attribute, auto_set_mtu in the
    adapter/ etherchannel(default:enabled). When customer wants to
    retain the mtu across reboots, when the use_jumbo_frames=set,
    he can set this to disabled, so the user configured mtu is
    retained.

Temporary fix
