Error description

  • PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Error message: " BMXAA0024E - The action DELETE is not allowed
on object CLASSSPEC" was received when deleting attributes from
a child classification, even when the child classification was
already cleared from the parent classification.

    STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

    1. Go to the Classifications application.
    2. Create a classification: PARENT_TEST.
    3. Add a new object for Use With as Asset.
    4. Add a new attribute e.g. ALT NAME, tick the box for Apply
    Down Hierarchy .
    5. Save the record.
    6. Create another classification CHILD_TEST.
    7. Set the parent classification as PARENT_TEST.
    8. Save the record.
    9. The attribute ALT NAME appears in this child classification
automatically as it is inherited from the parent classification.
The field "Inherited from" is populated.

    10. Try to delete this attribute row from this child
    classification.
    11. The following error is displayed as expected: "BMXAA0024E -
The action DELETE is not allowed on object CLASSSPEC. Verify the
business rules for the object and define the appropriate action
    for the object".
    12. Click the arrow next to the Parent Classification field on
this child classification and select "Clear Parent
    Classification".
    13. Attempt to delete the row for the attribute again: the same
error above is displayed. Delete function should have been
allowed here as the attribute of this child classification no
longer refers to the parent but the attribute remains readonly
and the "Inherited From" field remains populated.

    EXPECTED RESULTS:

Users should be able to delete attribute from child
classification once it is no longer associated with the parent
    classification.

    REPORTED IN VERSION:

    IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6.1.2
