Error description

  • Shipment releases Asset with Ancestor but without Parent

    STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

    1. Login to Maximo as maxadmin
    2. Go to Item Master and create 2 rotating items
      1. T1
Add this item to 2 Storerooms using the Add Items to Storeroom
    action
    Bedford > Central
    Nashua > Garage
Change status of this Item to Active and ensure that Roll New
Status to Organizations and Inventory? Is checked
      2. T2
Add this item to 2 Storerooms using the Add Items to Storeroom
    action
    Bedford > Central
    Nashua > Garage
Change status of this Item to Active and ensure that Roll New
Status to Organizations and Inventory? Is checked

    3. Go to Assets application and create the following Assets
      1. Asset: A1
    Rotating Item - T1
    Location - WEST
Save the record and change status to Operating
      2. Asset: A2
    Rotating Item - T2
    Location - WEST
Save the record and change status to Operating
      3. Asset: B1
    Parent: A1
    Rotating Item - T2
    Location - WEST
Save the record and change status to Operating
      4. Asset: B2
    Parent: A2
    Rotating Item - T2
    Location - WEST
Save the record and change status to Operating

Now we have 2 parent assets (A1, A2) having child assets (B1.
B2) respectively. They are all located in Bedford site and WEST
    location

    4. While remaining in Asset > B2, Common Actions > Move/Modify
    Assets
Remove To Parent value: A2 to null (i.e clear A2) and click ok
This means that B2 does not have any parent now.

    5. Common Actions > Move/Modify Assets
    To Location - Central
So now we have moved the B2 asset to Bedford > Central

    6. Go to Asset A1
    Common Actions > Move/Modify Assets
    To Location - Central
Now we have got A1 (and its associated child asset B2) in
    Bedford > Central

    7. Inventory Usage > Create a new record (1013)
    Usage Type: TRANSFER
    From Storeroom: Central
    Save record

    8. Usage Lines > New Row
    Item: T1
    Rotating Asset: A1
    Transfer Details:
    To Storeroom: Garage
    To Site: Nashua
    Save the record

    9. Change status > SHIPPED
    Shipment record: 1004 is created

    10. Inventory Usage > Create a new record (1014)
    Usage Type: TRANSFER
    From Storeroom: Central
    Save record

    11. Usage Lines > New Row
    Item: T2
    Rotating Asset: B2
    Transfer Details:
    To Storeroom: Garage
    To Site: Nashua

    12. Change status > SHIPPED
    Shipment record: 1005 is created

    13. At this time, change the Default Insert Site to Nashua for
    maxadmin.

    14. Shipment Receiving > 1004 > Select Shipped Items > Select
    Line 1
    Save the record

    15. More Actions > Receiving Rotating Items > Click Ok
So at this point, the shipment has been received; rotating
    assets have been received so A1 asset is now in Site Nashua;
    Storeroom Garage

    16. Shipment Receiving > 1005 > Select Shipped Items > Select
    Line 1
    Save the record

    17. More Actions > Receiving Rotating Items > Click Ok
So at this point, the shipment has been received; rotating
    assets have been received so B2 asset is now in Site Nashua;
    Storeroom Garage

    18. Inventory Usage > Create a new record (1015)
    Usage Type: Issue
    From Storeroom: Garage
    Save the record

    19. Usage Lines > New Row
    Item: T1
    Rotating Asset: A1
    Location: Operate
    Save

    20. Usage Lines > New Row
    Item: T2
    Rotating Asset: B2
    Location: Operate
    Save

    21. Change status of the Inventory Usage record to Complete

    22. Go to Assets > B1

    23. Common Actions > Move/Modify Assets
    To Parent: clear A1
    Click Ok
So B1 asset has no parent now

    24. Go to Assets > B2

    25. Common Actions > Move/Modify Assets
    To Parent: A1
    Click ok
    So at this point, we have;
    B2 has a parent A1
    B1 has no parent
We will keep B1 in Nashua
What we want to do is to move Asset A1 from Nashua to Bedford

    26. Go to Assets > A1

    27. Common Actions > Move/Modify Assets
    To Location: Garage

    28. Inventory Usage > Create record (1016)
    Usage Type: Transfer
    From Storeroom: Garage
    Save record

    29. Usage Lines > New Row
    Item: T1
    Rotating Asset: A1
    Transfer Details:
    To Site: Bedford
    To Storeroom: Central
    Save record

    30. Change status of the Inventory Usage record to SHIPPED
    Shipment record 1006 is created

    31. Change Default Insert site to Bedford

    32. Shipment Receiving > 1006 > Select Shipped Items > Select
    Line 1
    Save record

    33. More Actions > Receive Rotating Items > Click ok

    34. Assets > B2
    Status: Not Ready
    Parent: A1
    This is correct

    35. Assets > A1
    Status: Not Ready

    36. Assets > B1
    Status: Decommission
This is correct as we have not moved B1 from Nashua and we
removed A1 as the parent of B1 in Step 21
Now, we come to the problem. In order to demonstrate the problem
in the front end; we need to add a new field to the asset
    application

    37. Application Designer > Asset > main tab

    38. Copy the Parent field and past it below to create a new
    field

    39. Right click on the new field > Properties
    Label: Asset Ancestor
    Attribute: ANCESTOR
    Attribute for Part 2: ANCESTOR.DESCRIPTION

    40. Close the Dialog box and save the record

    41. Go to Assets > B1

    RESULT:
    Parent: No Value (CORRECT)
    Asset Ancestor: A1 (INCORRECT)

    EXPECTED RESULT:
    Parent: No Value

    Asset Ancestor: No Value
