IJ38990: STARTING/STOPING AGENTS TAKES LONGER IF RUNINFO HAS NON-RUNNING ENTRIES

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Starting and stopping the first ITM agent/server takes an
    additional 25 seconds per non-running PID entry in RunInfo.
    
    Recreate steps:
    
    On a Linux system
    1. Install the OS agent from 6.3.0.7 or 6.3.0.7 SP10
    2. Install MQ monitoring agent.
    3. Configure the OS and MQ agents
    
    4. Start an instance of the MQagent for each Queue Managers
    defined.
    5. Setup kcirunas.cfg so that the MQ default instance is not
    started at reboot.
    6. Setup kcirunas.cfg so that each MQ instance boots as mqm.
    7. Run UpdateAutoRun.sh
    8. Kill -9 one or more MQ agent instances
    9. Attempt to start all MQ instances.
    10. ERROR: Notice that the first MQ agent isntance that attempts
    to start take longer (25 seconds for each MQ agent instance that
    was killed)
    

Local fix

  • Run the cinfo -R command before starting or stopping ITM agents
    or servers.
    

Problem summary

  • Starting/Stoping agents takes longer if RunInfo has non-running

  • The code has been changed to fix the problem.
