APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When transfering a rotating asset from one site to another
    using Inventory Usage, and the same asset number already  exists
    in the to site. When attempting to receive the shipment record
    a message is displayed that says the asset number already
    exists. This is accurate however when the asset field is cleared
    and the autonumber feature is now used, the error message is
    still displayed indicating that that asset number already
    exists. At this point there is no option to allow for the
    shipment to be received.
    
    STEPS TO REPRODUCE
    1. Go to Item Master, and select rotating item, example
    ?ANTIVIRUS"
    2. From more actions ?Add item to storeroom?, set site as
    ?Fleet? and Storeroom to ?ATLANTA?.
    3. Go to Inventory Usage , Create Inventory Usage for Rotating
    Item along with Asset.
    4. Usage Type=Transfer, Item number=ANTIVIRUS, Rotating
    Assetnum=1994, From Storeroom=SOFTWARE, Site=BEDFORD, To
    Site=FLEET, To Storeroom=ATLANTA.
    5. Change the status to ?Shipped?. click Ok
    6. Change the Default site to Fleet
    7. Go to Asset Application and create Asset ?1994?.
    8. Go to Locations and create a holding location
    8. Go to Shipment receiving and select Shipment created in
    Step#5
    9. Under Shipment Receipts , ? Select Shipped Items?. click Ok
    10. From more actions, Receive Rotating Items, Click on
    Autonumber to change the asset number.  click Ok
    
    RESULTS:
    BMXAA7771E - The asset 1994 exists at the FLEET site. Enter a
    new asset number for the FLEET site.
    
    EXPECTED RESULTS:
    Autonumber should generate the new asset number for
    receipt.
