IJ34735: WORK ORDER TRACKING APPLICATION TAKES TOO LONG TO SAVE RECORD WHEN ADDING A LABOR WITH HIGH VALUE IN REGULAR HOURS FIELD

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• This error was found during testing of APAR IJ25116.
  Once regular hours field is set with high values, when trying to
  save the record it takes too long to take this action.
  STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
  1. Create a new work order and move the plans tab.
  2.Enter a new labor entry, use the craft of CARP, with a
  quantity of 4000 and a regular hour rate of 4000. (these values
  were entered in error and lead to the issue happening)
  3. Eventually Maximo will calculate the cost and throw an error
  of:
  The specified value 4000 exceeds the maximum field length for
  the Regular Hours field. The maximum length is specified in the
  Database Configuration application. (BMXAA4163)
  4. Correct the value (put any valid value in regular hours
  field) and save.

   Reproduction Steps:
   1. Create a new work order and move the plans tab.
   2. Enter a new labor entry, use the craft of CARP, with a
  quantity of 4000 and a regular hour rate of 4000 that is being
  entered by mistake in this scenario.
  3. Eventually Maximo will calculate the cost and throw an error
  of: The specified value 4000 exceeds the maximum field length
  for the Regular Hours field. The maximum length is specified in
  the Database Configuration application (BMXAA4163).
  4. Correct the Regular Hours value by entering a small valueand
  save.
  Because QUANTITY is still large (4000), the save process can
  take 10 or more minutes to complete.
