Error description

  • reconciliation process will not work for any machine which has
been Imported in the past using different Data Source Computer
    ID.

Basically it will fail whenever Data Source Computer ID has
    already been changed.

For those two duplicated computers the Data Source Computer ID
has been changed 10 times in the past (as confirmed by an output
    from following SWL query:

    select name, ip_address, count(remote_id) from
    dbo.computer_dimension group by name, ip_address

    See: case TS005305999

Local fix

  • 0. Upgrade ILMT Server to at least version 9.2.25.0.

    1. make sure there's no endpoint duplication within old
datasource reported in ILMT (if there are duplicates within one
and the same datasource, remove the duplication as in the step 1
     of:
    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/license-metric-tool?topic=computers-
    migrating-between-data-sources)

    2. (BigFix) stop BigFix Client on the endpoints that were not
    reconciled

    2. (disconnected scanners) stop creating disconnected
scanner packages on the endpoints that were not reconciled

    3. run import in ILMT

    4. remove endpoints that were not reconciled from the new
datasource (exactly in the same way as it is described in the
    step 1 of:
    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/license-metric-tool?topic=computers-
    migrating-between-data-sources)

    5. run import in ILMT

    6. at this point, there should be no duplication within and
    across datasources in ILMT

7a. (BigFix) start previously stopped BigFix Client on the
endpoints that were not reconciled (once started, these
endpoints will start to reappear in the BigFix Console, wait
until all the agents will show up in the BigFix Console and
subscribe to the ILMT fixlet site before proceeding to the next
    step)

7b. (BigFix) run the "TROUBLESHOOTING: Reset the BES Client -
BES >= 9.0" fixlet from the "BES Support" fixlet site targeting
all the endpoints that were not reconciled (this will cause
duplication within new datasource as each endpoint will receive
a new Computer ID in BigFix, wait until this will happen for all
the endpoints targetted before proceeding to the next step)

7c. (BigFix) remove the duplication in the new datasource
(exactly in the same way as it is described in the step 1 of:
    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/license-metric-tool?topic=computers-
    migrating-between-data-sources) - remove the previous
incarnation of each endpoint (so for each two duplicated
versions of the same endpoint remove the one that has the
    earlier "Last Report Time" date)

7a. (disconnected scanners) uninstall the disconnected scanner
and do not backup any of the files from the old installation (in
order to let ILMT forget about this endpoint incarnation):
    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/license-metric-tool?topic=troublesho
    oting-uninstalling-disconnected-scanner

7b. (disconnected scanners) install the disconnected scanner
from scratch (so that the endpoint will receive new endpoint ID
and ILMT will treat it as the new endpoint):
    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/license-metric-tool?topic=collection
    -installing-configuring-disconnected-scanners

    8. run import in ILMT

At this point, the endpoints should be reconciled from the old
datasource to the new one. Test it on a few endpoints
first to make sure it works as expected.
