Error description

  • This APAR includes fixes to various defects identified in CICS
Explorer V5.5.0.

Problem summary


    

  • - The CICS Transaction Server 5.4 target platform is not
up-to-date with support for Java 1.8 JREs.
- The CICS Transaction Server 5.6 target platform is not
up-to-date with the latest JCICS API.
- A number of images are not being being disposed of correctly
which causes a minor memory leak.
- On startup, CICS Explorer sometimes hangs with the message
"Initializing Remote Edit Support".
- CICS Explorer is not yet compatible with versions of Eclipse
above 4.8.
- Some documentation does not use wholly inclusive words.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • - The CICS Transaction Server 5.4 target platform has been
updated to reflect support for Java 1.8 JREs.
- The CICS Transaction Server 5.6 target platform has been
updated to the latest JCICS API.
- An update has been made so that a minor memory leak no longer
occurs due to a number of images not being disposed of correctly
.
- CICS Explorer no longer hangs on start up with the message
"Initializing Remote Edit Support".
- Preparatory work for compatibility with newer versions of
Eclipse has begun.
- Some documentation updates to use more inclusive wording.

This fix will be made available in Version 5.5.0.18 of the CICS
Explorer.
