APAR status

Error description

  • PROBLEM
    
    AD Hoc reports 'appear' to take a long time (15
    minutes) to run (Preview) in the Ad Hoc tool.
    
    STEPS TO
    REPLICATE:
    
    1. Go to the Work Order Tracking application,
    (filter WO's so that you have < 50 WO's visible)
    2. Click on
    Run Reports
    3. Create Report, to start the AdHoc report tool.
    
    4. Accept the default AdHoc report settings and click the
    Preview Report button
    5. Report finishes running and displays
    on screen quickly.
    6. In another window navigate to report
    administration -> View report processing
    7. The adhoc report
    that we previewed shows in Report Processing like it is still
    trying to run the report even though the report appeared to
    finish
    
    This impacts any application where AdHoc reports can be
    created.
    
    ACTION Taken
    I was able to duplicate this in house.
    If you repeat the steps enough times, you can use up all the
    Concurrent report instances. At that point, no reports will
    run.
    
    Action Plan
    Can we have Maximo report the AdHoc report
    as completed, when they actually
    complete?

Local fix

  • The user (or Admin) could go into Report admin and cancel the
    report or wait 15 minutes and the report will be removed from
    the list.
