Error description

  • This APAR includes fixes to various defects identified in CICS
    Explorer V5.5.0.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • - The CICS Explorer update site text does not give clear details
as to what the different features are or how to choose the ones
    that are needed.
    - When selecting a region, the status bar is not updated with
    the region description.
    - The JVM profile samples show that JNDI_REGISTRATION={YES|NO}
which is different to the documentation
    - If a CICS resource has '&' in its name then the '&' will be
repeated in the editor tab title, tooltip for example.
    - If a JVMPROFILE is set, when you do a 'New From' on a Program
Definition you cannot complete the wizard.
    - The CICSplex Explorer is not optimised for large installations
    .
    - System Groups in a Platform are not currently read only on the
Attributes tab (they are on the Overview tab) so when, for
example, you try and set a Description and save it, a
    NullPointerException will be returned.

Problem conclusion

  • - The CICS Explorer update site text is now more descriptive.
    - When a region is selected, the status bar is now updated with
    the region description.
    - JVM profile samples have been updated to reflect what is shown
    in the documentation.
    - CICS resources with '&' in the name no longer display the '&'
    repeated.
    - Using 'New From' on a Program Definition with a JVMPROFILE set
    will now complete correctly.
    - The CICSplex Explorer has been updated to work more
    efficiently in large installations.
    - The System Groups editor has been updated so that System
Groups in a Platform are read only.
    .
This fix will be made available in Version 5.5.0.14 of the CICS
    Explorer.
