APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If CMDB needs to be re-initialized and customer
has changed default umask or root umask to 077
vpgadmin user will not be able to access CMDB
    directory to start it.
This will cause that /var/adm/sulog will start
    to increase

Local fix

  • To workaround the issue, set root umask to 022
to re-initialize the DB, then it can be set
    again to 077
    $ oem_setup_env
    # chuser umask=22 root
    # stopsrc -s vio_daemon
    # /usr/sbin/slibclean
    # rm -rf /home/ios/CM
    # startsrc -s vio_daemon -a '-d 4'
    # kill -1 vio_daemon's PID

Problem summary

  • If the /home/ios/CM dir is removed, and viosecure -high is
applied (or otherwise root user has umask=077), then the CM DB
    will not be successfully recreated.

Problem conclusion

  • Force umask during creation of /home/ios/CM dir so that the CM
DB functions can correctly recreate the DB.
