IJ25116: BMXAA4163 THE SPECIFIED VALUE XXX EXCEEDS THE MAXIMUM FIELD LENGTH FOR THE REGULAR HOURS FIELD.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When entering labor cost and an error is made in quantity or
  amount of regular hours the labor cost are incorrect and can not
  be corrected.
  
  
  STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
  
  1. Create a new work order and move the plans tab.
  
  2.Enter a new labor entry, use the craft of CARP, with a
  quantity of 4000 and a regular hour rate of 4000. (these values
  were entered in error and lead to the issue happening)
  
  3. Eventually Maximo will calculate the cost and throw an error
  of:
  
  The specified value 4000 exceeds the maximum field length for
  the Regular Hours field. The maximum length is specified in the
  Database Configuration application. (BMXAA4163)
  
  4. Correct the values and save. Check the view cost and notice
  that the internal labor hours and labor hours and labor cost are
  wrong. You can change the values and instead of removing the old
  entries and using the new values, Maximo adds the old and new
  together and the cost are all wrong.

  values to the new corrected values rather than just using the
  new correct values when updating the labor hours and labor costs
