Error description

  • When the Linux OS Agent calculates the Process Instant Busy CPU
(Percent) attribute, it normalizes the result across the number
of CPUs on the system. This APAR will allow the ability to
indicate the value should not normalized across the number of
    CPUs.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Linux Process Instant Busy CPU (Percent) is normalized across
    the number of CPUs.

When the Linux OS Agent calculates the Process Instant Busy CPU
(Percent) attribute, it normalizes the result across the number
of CPUs on the system. This APAR will allow the ability to
indicate the value should not be normalized across the number of
    online CPUs.

In order for this fix to be used, a new environment variable
needs to be set. See the Install Actions section of the
    Problem Conclusion for more information.

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been updated to allow an environment variable to be
specified indicating the Busy CPU (Percent) should be
calculated by not normalizing across the number of online CPUs.

    Install Actions:
    ----------------
    A new environment variable, KLZ_PROC_INSTANT_BUSY_CPU_NORMALIZE,
has been added and when set to FALSE will not normalize the
Process Instant Busy CPU (Percent) across the number of CPUs.

If the environment variable is not set or not set to FALSE, the
calculation will continue to normalize the value across the
    number of CPUs.

The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
    packages:

       | service pack | 6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-SP0005
