Local fix
Problem summary
When doing SHA calculations in a microbenchmark with hardware acceleration enabled (default) the JVM can become excessively busy with object allocation overhead due to the choice of buffer size used. The net effect is that the performance will be better when hardware acceleration is disabled.
Problem conclusion
The JRE has been updated to use a different buffer size for SHA calculations to optimize object allocation overhead. . This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 8 SR5 FP20 (8.0.5.20) 8 SR5 FP20 (8.0.5.20) . Contact your IBM Product's Service Team for these Service Refreshes and Fix Packs. For those running stand-alone, information about the available Service Refreshes and Fix Packs can be found at: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/
