IC71322: 6.2.X INSTALLER CAN FAIL AFTER DEPLOYMENT ENGINE INITIALIZATION WITH NO MESSAGES SEEN ON THE CONSOLE

Error description

• The Tivoli Storage Manager Server installer can fail and return
  to the OS prompt after seeing the following console messages:

  In review of the logs.zip, the de_trace.log may show the
  following error:

Local fix

• Check to see if /etc/cit directory exists. If it does exist,
  rename the cit directory (example: /etc/cit.orig) and run the
  installer again.

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  An invalid /etc/cit/cit.ini file, returns the user to the
  operating system prompt without advanced warning or an
  explanation. An invalid cit.ini file is one whose entries point
  
  to a nonexistent Common Inventory Technology file that is listed
  
  in the /opt/tivoli/cit directory.
  
  Determine if the /etc/cit/cit.ini file exists. If it is
  available, rename the file while running the installer, for
  example /etc/cit/cit.orig. After installation, return the file
  to its original name.
