Error description
An application issues a connection to a V6 queue manager. Subsequently connections are established to a V7 queue manager on the same or different threads of the application. Attempts to open/subscribe to queue objects fail with error MQRC_FUNCTION_NOT_SUPPORTED.
Local fix
DO NOT 2298 error when connecting to v6 followed immediately by connecting to a v7 queue manager via SPI and issuing an MQPUT
Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: Any users of WebSphere MQ using the unmanaged .NET client to interact with a V7 queue manager. Note the error only occurs if the application has also previously connected to a V6 queue manager on the same/different thread. Platforms affected: Windows **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: The problem was caused by multiple connections to a queue manager sharing a single structure containing information regarding the supported functionality offered by the queue manager connection. As a result, if a client connection to a V6 queue manager was established prior to a client connection to a V7 queue manager, this would result in the client incorrectly using the data associated with the V6 connection to determine which functions are supported by the V7 connection.
Problem conclusion
WebSphere MQ was modified to ensure that each individual connection to a queue manager receives its own copy of the data structure containing supported functions. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: v7.0 Platform Fix Pack 7.0.1.3 -------- -------------------- Windows U200320 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available, information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
