Error description

  • Scenario: -
    1. Open a specific model file in CATIAV5.
    2. Go to TOOLS/OPTIONS/DISPLAY/VISUALISATION and check ON the
???Surfaces Boundaries??? option and set to (5: 1.4 mm)
    3. Observe that some of the edges appear partially black and
the others appear green (if that is the color applied in
    ???surface boundaries??? option.)
    4. Use the boundary command and select the surface. Observe
that the surface boundary appears green completely and there
    is no dark edge visible.
RESULT : The surface boundary does not appear uniform and is
    dark at certain edges.
EXPECTED RESULT : The surface boundary should be uniform and
should look the same as after using the ???BOUNDARY??? command.

Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION
    Additional Closure Information:
    INCIDENT DIAGNOSIS:
    Edges are not correctly displayed
    RESTRICTION EXPLANATION:
There is a thin face at surface boundary that creates a micro
    flange (length near resolution).
The very small length of this flange explains behavior of
    visualization (alternating between
    boundary and flange internal edge).
When we launch boundary command, we create new topology and
    thus, new graphic representation
with its own priority (different than origin surface edges).
That's why the visualization seems better.
    BYPASS:
    remove the thin faces.
