• ABSTRACT:
  OPERATION ADD IN AN EXISTING CATIA V5
  PRODUCT OF A COMPONENT TO AN ASSEMBLY
  LEADS TO A WRONG POSITIONING OF CATPARTS
  .
  SCENARIO:
  1. Launch VPM and CATIA V5.
  2. In CATIA select Work with cache system (Tools
  > Options > Infrastructure > product Structure >
  Cache Management)
  3. In CATIA create a CATPart named EmptyPart
  and save it in local file.
  4. In VPM create the following parts, ROOT,
  PART_A, PART_B, and PART_A1.
  5. Create and assembly with the above created
  parts by, copy/paste PART_A & PART_B onto ROOT.
  6. copy/paste part PART_A1 under PART_A.
  7. Save all modifications.
  8. Create a blank product ASM in CATIA and
  associate the product to PART_B.
  9. Create a simple CATPart, PART_1 and attach
  with PART_A1.
  10. Close all session in CATIA.
  11. In VPM expand the root part.
  12. Open both the documents into CATIA as "Open
  in a new CATIA V5 Product"
  13. Drag the coordinate system and place on any
  of the face of the CATPart,
  14. Right click on the Coordinate system and select
  Edit.
  15. Change the value of parameter in the
  translation increment part to any of the direction
  and enter it by clicking on the arrow.
  16. Save back the modification by using save
  management.
  17. In VPM click on the link between ROOT and
  PART_A to verify the translation values.
  18. In CATIA right click on PART_B in the webtree
  and select PART_B object > Edit.
  19. Expand the tree of PART_A and copy the
  CATPart and paste it onto PART_B.
  20. Hide the part PART_A from webtree, by clicking
  Hide/show icon.
  21. Replace back the coordinate system to original
  position.
  22. Right click on PART_B and select >Components
  > Existing component.
  23. Double click on EmptyPart and create a simple
  CATPart in it which is in contact with the previous
  CATPart (PART_1) and save back the modification
  by "Save management"
  24. Close all the session in CATIA.
  25. Select the CATProduct attached with PART_B
  and open in CATIA.
  26. Select the CATPart attached with eth part
  PART_A1 and open it as add in an existing CATIA
  V5 product.

  RESULT:
  The positions of the loaded documents get changed.
