Error description

  • All active LCA users unable to save to CATIA. Vault Server Hang
    / lockup.
    Scenario:
Complete LCA system outage. The sequence of events is as
    follows:
At about 1:40 pm on Feb 21, new error log files containing the
words "heap" and "core" began appearing in the production LCA
instance. The first four error log files that we have
    identified are:
    -rw-r--r-- 1 enovadm users 24245053 Feb 21 13:40
    heapdump3399770.1172083228.txt
    -rw-r--r-- 1 enovadm users 468863 Feb 21 13:40
    javacore3399770.1172083230.txt
    -rw-r--r-- 1 u304606 users 10055 Feb 21 13:40
    u304606.0000033845dc8ece.vpmsrv
    -rw-r--r-- 1 u704065 users 552322 Feb 21 13:40
    u704065.000001a345dc42e1.vpmsrv
We have never seen these error logs before, but we believe
they may help us find the root cause of the outage.
At about 2:30 pm the number of users with multiple LCA
processes began to climb rapidly until a point at about 3:30 pm
at which time no more LCA licenses were available.
