Error description

• ASD / CANNOT DROP THE COMPASS ON A AXIS
  OF A PART IN A SCENE MODE
  .
  SCENARIO: (please refer attached doc file)
  1) Start CATIA.
  2) Open the supplied assembly with Cache ON and
  Do not load default shapes on open - ON
  = Note: Nothing is in design mode
  3) Create a partial scene
  4) Activate terminal node on the top level product
  within the scene.
  = Note: Nothing is activated in the product window
  5) Attempt to drop the compass on the axis of the
  shaft
  = The compass will NOT go to the axis of the shaft
  6) Exit the scene
  7) Change the shaft to design mode in the product
  window then re-enter the scene
  = The compass will NOT go to the axis of the shaft
  8) Exit the scene and activate the terminal node of
  the shaft in the product window then re-enter the
  scene
  = The compass will NOT go to the axis of the shaft
  .
  OBSERVATION:
  The compass will NOT go to the axis of the
  shaft.
  .

Problem conclusion

• THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN
  CATIA
  .
  Incident Diagnosis:
  The problem is not related to Scenes.
  1- Open with Cache activated on and "Do not open
  shape on open"
  2- Activate Terminal node for the product.
  3- Try to move the compass on the axis of the
  cylinder; Compass does not detect the axis.
  .
  Restriction Explanation:
  The compass cannot detect the axis because we
  are in VisuMode. In VisuMode, you have no access
  to the specifications (they are not loaded).
  The axis should be detected only in Design Mode.
  Always exit the scene and then change the mode.
  .
  By-Pass:
  Switch the CATPart in Design Mode.
  .
