HD51417: ERROR MESSAGE ISSUED WHEN OPENING A 3DXML FILE

APAR status

Error description

• Scenario:
  1) File / Open Product1.CATProduct
  2) Hide PartBoby in Part2
  3) Tools/Options/Compatibility/3DXML
  -> Select option Exact
  4) File / Save As 3dxml
  5) Open the 3dxml file using the 3DXML Player
  -> The Product1.3dxml file is opened but the error
     message is also displayed:
     Error while loading: Part2
  6) The same problem occurs when the 3D XML
     Tessellation option is used
  7) The problem does not occur when the 3D XML
     Compressed Tessellation option is used

Problem conclusion

• THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON CATIA VERSION
  5 RELEASE 17 GA level.

  Incident Diagnosis
  The 3D XML Player generates error messages
  when a product contains no representation (part
  body hidden). But with the compressed tessellation
  export mode, no error message is displayed. When
  a reference has an empty representation, the
  export as 3D XML in compressed tessellation mode
  generated an empty representation. So as the 3D
  XML Player loaded this "empty representation", no
  message were fired.

  Correction Explanation
  The export in Compressed Tessellation mode now
  does not save empty representation. So the error
  message now appears for the three export modes.
  .
  Answer and By-Pass
  Dev team is studying the possibility to distinguish
  an empty representation vs an incorrect
  representation (for a future release) so that the
  error message will be fired only in the case of an
  incorrect representation. In this case, the defect
  scenario would not generate errors.
