Error description

  • .
Instance name should not be displayed in scene tree
    structure for root
    assemblies.
    .
    Scenario;
    1) Start Catia V5R6 SP3
    2) Open the product '4587567,EC0001 ,R0.CATProduct'
    3) Double click in the scene 'Exploded'
== The first branch in the tree is the product with the Part
    Number
4587567. In parenthesis (My Assembly) is the initial name of
    the
assembly before being renamed. But this name does mean
    anything and is
not related to a property of the product.
Nothing should be displayed in parenthesis.

ABSTRACT: ASSEMBLY - Instance name should not be displayed
    in scene tree

    Hello Bert,
Here is the result of our investigations. First of all,
    the name of
an object is always composed of two elements:
              - The Part Number
              - The Instance Name (between parenthesis)
So this name means something '''' You can point on the same
    instance
two or X times under a same product. So the Part Number
    will be
diferent but not the Instance Name. Now this is true that
    you don't
need to have those informations for the root product. This
    screen
    apearance is customizable in
    TOOLS/OPTIONS/INFRASTRUCTURE/PRODUCT
STRUCTURE/NODES CUSTOMIZATION, modifying Node Display to
    "customized
    display".
    Thanks for your comprehension.
    Best Regards, Pierre.

Dassault, please see and review Alains response that
    follows.
Pierre, Thank you for your explanation. I understand that
    the Node
Display can be customized. However, your proposal does not
    solve the
    problem.
1- An instance name on a root assembly does not have any
    meaning in
general and should never be displayed whatever is the Node
    Display
customization (ref: PMR 06960, APAR HC76346 already been
    open and fixed
by Dassault). Actually, the product does not have an
    instance name
the scene. An instance name should not appear on a root
    product within
    a scene.
2 - On the particular example provided with the PMR, the
    instance name
(My Assembly) displayed in the scene tree is not link to a
    Part Number
or an Instance Name! Why is the string 'My Assembly'
    displayed? Where
    is this string coming from?
Please open a new APAR to address this problem.
