Troubleshooting
Problem
After upgrading MS SQL Server from 2014 to 2017 and updating from 11.1.x to 11.1.4 it is not possible to use the expand function in Analysis Studio anymore.
Using expand will cause an ANS-MES-1005 error for packages based on MSAS cube.
Symptom
Error Message
ANS-MES-1005 An error occured while expanding the member:
[GO Sales Fact].[Product].[Product].[Product Line Code]->:[M14].[Product].[Products].[Camping Equipment]
The unexpected result refers to this member:
[GO Sales Fact].[Product].[Product].[Product Line Code]->:[M17].[Product].[Products].[Camping Equipment]
Resolving The Problem
To solve this problem 2 steps were necessary:
Updating Framework Manager model by re-importing the data source from the new 2017 folder and re-publish the package.
Deleting RTM models for DQM:
- Stop the Query Service from the Cognos Administration console
- Navigate to the Analytics Server installation directory ...\data\mfw4j\PMCs
- Delete all files under the PMCs folder
- Start the Query Service
- Open Analysis Studio and try the expand again
